Established in Port Seton in 1962.
J K Thomson has come a long way since its humble beginnings over 50 years ago, down by the harbour in the small fishing village of Port Seton.
Nestled in the coastline that surrounds the beautiful county of East Lothian, Port Seton was once a thriving fishing port where dozens of vessels daily brought in an abundance of beautiful fresh fish and shellfish. Many of the local fishmongers became recipients of such catches, J K Thomson being one of them.

Our Factory
Over the last few years we have invested heavily in our premises here in Musselburgh, extending and developing to what is now one of the largest and most modern seafood processing plants in the country.
We are at the forefront of our industry with regards to current legislation and technology and, with over 100 production staff, we put great emphasis on training and development to ensure that everyone regularly achieves the consistent level of quality expected of them.
Modern Apprenticeships have brought an increase in employee technical awareness which in turn brings business benefits including improved team work, new product development and increased motivation.

Fresh Fish
From all the major Scottish ports and further afield, we source the freshest whole fish available on a daily basis. This is transported to our factory directly after purchase ensuring that the fish arrive in the best possible condition for processing.
Variaties
Our range of filleted fish include many species such as haddock, salmon, lemon sole and trout. These are widely sought after not only as fillets, but as whole fish as well. Our customers see that they are receiving the freshest quality of fish available, which is traceable back to the boat or farm.

Not only do we deliver throughout the UK, but we also send fish to Europe and even as far afield as the far east.

Sourcing fish from sustainable stocks is something we are very passionate about. We believe that the future of our industry relies very much on supporting initiatives which focus on ensuring that fishing grounds are managed properly so that the preservation of key stocks becomes paramount.
All of our customers are vitally important to us and irrespective of the size of the order, exactly the same level of care and attention is shown in producing and delivering each one efficiently.

Having first acquired our BRC accreditation over four years ago, we have since been able to maintain this at Grade A level for the past 2 years and have now most recently been awarded a AA Grade in recognition of our working practices and procedures.
